The Camaro and the Firebird - both truly iconic cars - celebrate their 50th anniversary milestone in 2017. In honor of this special occasion, Camaro Central & Firebird Central in association with Carlisle Events and the Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals will host a dual 50th Anniversary bash at the Carlisle, Penn. Fairgrounds June 23-25, 2017.
The weekend showcase doesn’t just tout some of the best from Chevy and Pontiac, it welcomes a top industry vendor in Camaro Central & Firebird Central as presenting sponsor of the celebration and displays. One of these displays will be a Camaro and Firebird display unlike any presented before. Another will feature a timeline showing off restored and preserved Camaros and Firebirds from many different years, including the very first Camaro! Modified and custom builds will also get attention - for example, Mike Heim's Quality Custom Rides 'V12 Camaro, which stole the show at SEMA 2016. A couple of Camaro and Firebird race cars, including the Blue Maxi Camaro and a Players Challenge Camaro, will also make an appearance.
The ever-popular Solid Lifter Showroom will contain some Camaros and Firebirds as well. This display, made possible by the Super Car Workshop, historically brings some top of the line vehicles to a special display in Building Y.
For those who want to show off their own rides, the National Parts Depot Showfield hosts more than 30 Camaro and Firebird clubs in attendance and offers a chance for Camaro and Firebird owners to share their passion. Guests who want something speedy can take their Camaro, Firebird or other registered car to the autocross track or register for a 3-minute thrill of a lifetime as part of the burnout contest.
Finally, NHRA Hall of Famer Bruce Larson is back at Carlisle after a year away to offer Nitrofest to the thousands in attendance with Larson’s USA 1 Top Fuel racer.
Overall, this year’s Carlisle Chevrolet Nationals promises to be better than ever, with guests and participants from all over. Between the midway, swap meet, car corral, adrenaline based activities and of course the great display of classic and modern show cars, what’s not to see?
