1936 Retro Mod Ford Three Window Coupe
This particular initiative included a complete body-off restoration and acid body wash to initiate the three year expense to create a very drivable retro mod vehicle with all the visuals of the original design complimented with extremely enjoyable conveniences and horsepower.
By example, the all steel body and frame, window crank handles, and "cascading falls" center dash feature, including the original dash itself and original seats, remained as intended; save for improved custom modifications and the added factory-look AC and stereo radio, customized within the dash.
The interior, drive train, suspension and exhaust modifications is what makes this car unique among most other retro mod entries. Nothing I've seen compares to the rich look of this interior design. It begins where most retro mod projects typically runs short of investments.
The objective of this interior design (seats and door panels and dash) are creative elements taken from my '98 C 4 Porsche, matching the treatments on the seats and the flowing black to saddle color transition to the dash and interior door handles.
To insure that this car was enjoyable to drive, I included all the added conveniences of current road cars including a thermally insulated compartment and a cold AC unit for the hot climates of Florida summers. Power steering, power brakes and power windows are also added conveniences.
The new crate engine Chevy came from The Engine Factory Co. with 430 horsepower power to match or exceed most contemporary offerings. The grill was perhaps one of the most expensive features included in this car as it was custom designed in stainless steel to match the original, which was no longer available. Replica non-chrome steel grills from Brazil simply wouldn't suffice. it was so well designed and executed in heavy gauge stainless steel.
The wheels and hubcaps remained as standard as they complimented the original design and gave no indication of what lies underneath.
This is a fun car to own and a great representative of the pre-war period for any collection. It has less than 3800 miles since complete restoration. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
