My son, Dan Lynch, and I bought this 1988 S-10 short-bed for a father/son project when Dan was 14. Dan's goal was to use the truck as a daily driver for high school. The original 4 cyl. engine and 5 speed were pulled out. The truck was torn down to the bare chassis and cab. After the whole front end was rebuilt, including 3" dropped spindles, the new drive train was added, including a 355 small block, turbo 350 trans with a shift kit, and a Firebird posi rear. The interior was redone, including heated leather seats from a newer S-10 Blazer, and a custom built console. Dan and his friends did all the body work, including shaving the door handles, smoothing the tailgate, adding a custom rolled pan with flush tailights, and a cowl induction hood. The truck was painted Cadillac polo green, with lime metallic lime green flames.
Due to school responsibilities, school sports, and part time jobs, the truck took longer to finish than planned, but Dan got to drive it for the first time to his High School Graduation. At 22, Dan still has the truck, and is a mechanic and pit crew member with a Nascar team in Mooresville, NC.
