Bob DeCarlo is a frequent contributor to various parts of our site and this week he sent in pictures of a local show in Thousand Oaks, California along with a great narrative...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.. This years 12th Annual Amgen Car, Truck and Motorcycle show with all proceeds going to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Tri-Counties was a GREAT show.  The show took place on Sept 29, 2002 and I must say it didn't look as if it was going to go on at one point.  This year Ventura County wanted permits from us and our food vendors.  They called two weeks before the show and asked if we had our permits.  Needless to say...we didn't.  In the past we never had to go through this and had no idea they were needed.  I called some of our food vendors and was told they could not comply and would have to cancel coming out to the show.  An unexplainable fear came over me all I could think about was having over 200 Street Rodders and  NO FOOD !  Not a Pretty sight.  Lucky for us one of our vendors Kernal Bob'a Kettle Corn was fully aware of what was needed and pitched in to make some calls and line up some vendors that could help at the last minute.  We also got help from some local ELKS club guys. They came out with their BBQ truck and made up some real good eats.   Now lets talk about Mother Nature. Saturday I got up and wouldn't you know it RAIN not heavy but enough to keep those cars in the garage.  All day Saturday. Light rain. On Sunday morning I got up at 5am and although I could not see the sky. I could tell that there was no water falling. By 7:30 we had some cars rolling in and by 9:30 BAM we had over 200 cars and let me say The WEATHER WAS GREAT.. That's my story and I'm stickin to it.. Enjoy the pictures and I'll
