Well, The Grand Daddy of them all has come and gone, and by all accounts it was a GREAT Show.  Ray Schuler covered the show for HotRod HotLine and got a lot of fantastic shots for us including pictures of the Ridler award winner.

Our good friend Al Liebmann also sent some pictures of the Ridler Award winner, so we'll include them here as well.

Should we start out the Ridler Award winner???
Wellllll.. OKAY!

The Ridler Award this year went to a totally awesome Chip and Sam Foose creation. Take a look at this 1935 Chevy Master Sedan.  Ray and Al both said that this car was really a work of art.

This was Rays personal pick for the Ridler award too.
Good choice Ray!!!
Three Different Sources said there was $900,000 into this work of art.  WOW!!!

Congratulations!
on this Beautiful

As you all know , this was the 50th Anniversary Detroit Autorama, so the MHRA went to great pains to make it a really special event.  There were many Past Ridler Award winners- and for those of you who don't know what the Ridler award it this is an award given to a car which is making it's first public appearance at the Detroit Autorama.  I suppose the initial idea was to encourage builders to save there cars' debut for Detroit so that the show would have a big section of New, Fresh card to the attendees to see.

Well , it's really worked out well in that respect Detroit Autorama is the place everyone goes to see the newest and most spectacular of cars in there "Debut".  Some other past Ridler Award Winners at this years show were;

Frank Camdens -  Frigid T(1977), Tony Carlinis- '33 Ford Coupe (1991), Orland Koppes -'34 Ford Roadster (1987), Ken Lawson- '33 Ford Speedstar (2000), Chuck Millers - Fire Truck (1968), The "Revolver" built by Dave Emory and Sold on HotRodHotLine about 1.5 years ago, Penningtons "Scorpion (1972) and Devilfish (1973), Ken Reisters 21st Century Comet (1998), and Chris Williams '49 Chevy M-80 built by HotRods and Custom Stuff and featured in our coverage from last year.

We don't have Show Autorama pictures of all these great former winners but we had file pictures on two of them for you
