Hi All I have returned from a press conference. As the local photo representative of HOTRODHOTLINE.COM, I was asked to cover AUTOFEST 2003 scheduled to be held August 22-24 at General Motors of Canada headquarters in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. This is the 10th year of this event and is Canada's biggest car show. Already 1,102 cars are pre-registered with a capacity of 1,400 parking spots but they also squeeze in a 100-175 more in various spots around the facility. Various invitees brought out their cars for the invited media to photograph and ask questions. There is also a very big SOAPBOX DERBY event, limited to 50 units in 4 classes--hobby street--hobby pro--superstock--open, gee 4 divisions no motors??? The new starting ramp has been raised up substantially to obtain higher speeds. This year is the 100th anniversary of BUICK automobiles and there will be a special reserved parking area for the McLaughlin Buick Club of Canada. The event was held at a local McDonalds in the parking lot, as they are one of the sponsors of this event along with Sunoco. They also had a race Corvette with trailor unit on display, real nice pair of gentlemen who runs this. After all this jawboning in the outdoor heat we were invited inside McDonalds for a FREE LUNCH, thank you! Enjoy "Madmike" Lynch!!!
