Back to the Fifties 2003 was AWESOME !   They set a record for attendance.. Last we heard the count was 11,500 registered cars on Saturday.. Hey that's almost as many as Louisville Nats.. What's so cool is that this show  includes up to  1964 so there is a really wide range of cars.  We noticed two things this year first . There were more  40's and 50's cars than anything else and there were a lot of young people there. Well younger than us anyway !  That is so great to see. Young blood coming into our hobby as our children and grandchildren (???)  get involved gives us hope that generations to follow will get the same enjoyment we do with this great hobby of ours..  The weather was just perfect.. Very warm and sunny but there was a light breeze and lots of shade in the beautiful fairgrounds in St. Paul.   On Sunday at about 1:00 there was a little light rain but nothing that bothered anyone !    We saw so many old friends and met many of our visitors and sellers that we hadn't met before.  We had thousands and thousands of rodders stop by for their free mouse flames that's always a big hit at our booth.. And the new T Shirts went over really big too.    Wellllll.. Enough with the commentary.. Off to the show !

As far as we're concerned, the trip is half the fun of going to car shows.  Jack is always looking for parts and cars and I swear, he can smell an old car a mile away.   We stop at every field of cars or old junkyard he smells. I mean sees  This is our first stop in Idaho Falls Idaho. This guy had a small collection of old Cadillacs and a few other makes he drove them til they stopped and then parked them. But wait til you see the Treasure we found on the way home .   It'll be at the end of the story...

No.. They didn't have anything he needed !

Beautiful Montana
Blue Sky and Field Cars

This great oldie was on a trailer in a parking lot around the corner from our hotel in Billings, Montana last registered in  1963.  We don't think it was here last year but there was no sign of anyone who could tell us about it.

Besides being a "Car Junky". The reason Jack has to stop at every field and junkyard he can sniff out is that he's looking for a part that I have come to think is IMPOSSIBLE to find.. He has an  '87 Cadillac Allante.. You know the Caddy sports car--two seater that they made from  87  to 93.  The body was made in Italy and it's really a beautiful car.. But his has one bad taillight and Cadillac doesn't make any parts anymore..  there isn't enough interest for anyone to make any aftermarket.. That means if you need one you have to find it in a junkyard and parts for these are rarer than hens teeth so if anyone out there knows of a junkyard that has a taillight for an  87 Cadillac Allante. Maroon in color. We'd love to know where it is.give us a call at  877-700-2468 or email   [email protected]    I'm pretty sure that we won't find one in one of these fields but  Jack just can't help it he's a  car junky through and through..
