Hi Everyone!!
The Inaugural NHRA Hot Rod Reunion, Beech Bend Park, Bowling Green, Kentucky.  When we heard that announced last year during the pro Edelbrock fastest street car shoot-out, our first reaction was You've got to be kidding me.  No one, including the good people from the NHRA could have imagined the turn out in store for them.  There's not a lot I can say that Steve Arnett hasn't already covered.  If you've never attended one of these events, either West coast or East coast, you can truly understand the amount of history that is represented here.  Several museums were emptied out to not only give people a look at the past "no these weren't roped off DO NOT TOUCH displays" but to let you run your hands all over them and enjoy the privilege kind of displays.  There were many top named drivers from the past and present as well.  Larry Dixon, Darrell Gwynn, Connie Kalitta and a host of others mingled with the large crowd.  Don Garlits was a pleasure to talk to as always, but two people who stood out in my mind were Arnie "The Farmer" Beswick and Gene Winfield.  Arnie Beswick truly enjoys meeting and greeting his fans like no one else I've ever met.  Gene Winfield has to be one of the most courteous people I've ever come across.  He is a pleasure to meet and truly seems to enjoy talking to everyone.  Another star of the event that didn't get the fan fair it deserved was the top fuel dragster named The Jade Grenade.  While this car was being restored, it was used in the Dodge Hemi commercial (where the guy pulls the chute at the red light and then gets beat by the Dodge truck) then it was taken back apart for final paint and detail.  There was plenty to keep you busy all weekend and the best part "I never heard the first complaint ALL weekend.  The free barbeque lunch on Saturday went off without a hitch even with a reported 2,200 plus car show entrants and over 350 drag cars.  All I can say is next year you better be there!  Let's get this party started!!!   Butch!!!

This car could be seen for miles!

This Mustang flopper body WAS owned by Mark Stacey.  The new owner bought the car before Mark could even get the trailer parked!
