Tunica, Mississippi, is a small town about 30 miles south of Memphis. A few years ago it was a small stop in the middle of a bunch of cotton fields. Today it�s one of the leading gaming venues in the South. For the past several years the Memphis Street Rods have teamed up with Sam�s Town to put on Delta River Cruisin;, a car show unlike anything else I have ever attended.
This year almost 900 cars showed up. There were no trophies, just good entertainment, good food, and good hot rod camaraderie. Papa Doo Run Run put on shows Friday and Saturday night. At the Sunday awards ceremony the host club gave cash awards to the contest winners and they had drawings for cash, like $200 to $500. Old Dad did not win but I will be back next year.
My camera will take 100 pictures. Like I said, there were almost 900 cars. So the odds were about 1 in 10 that I would snap any particular car. With so many cars I had to set some rules. The first was hood down. Well, most of the time anyway. And the second was that I had to have a clear shot along the side. So if I did not take your picture it doesn�t mean I didn�t like your car. Your hood may have been up or the cars next to you may have been too tight. Enough of that, let�s fire up our rods and head for Sam�s Town!!! Enjoy the show...... Steve!!!
