Hi All
Well I finally got to go to a show and man was it worth the wait! As usual mother nature was kind to the Friday night cruise. An estimated crowd of around 155 invaded the alley. Yours truly was at home trying to get things around the house done so I could leave home long enough to enjoy the show on Saturday. Maybe the weather was great because I wasn�t there. Then along comes Saturday... cold and miserable. About 70 cars made it to the show due to the weather. As the old saying goes Quality made up for Quantity. Alan Mayes of Ol� Skool Rodz magazine had his Edsel and other local clubs were out in force. Our club the Murfreesboro Hot Rod Club carried five cars and brought home five awards! Even yours truly won a Top 25 award! Then the sun popped out for the drive home. Wouldn�t you know it! Thanks to the Hoodlum Alley bunch for a very entertaining weekend. These guys are loved and supported by their community and set a great example for the rest of us to follow. Great Job!
If you�re wondering where they came up with such a name. Some of guys in the club own businesses that are car related and located up and down the same street in Shelbyville. It�s a small street that�s not much more than an alley and runs right up to the backdoor of most of the shops. One of the smaller buildings, located right in the middle of this bunch, came vacant. So the club bought it and turned it into their clubhouse. Now when you turn into the alley, they have a city limits sign that has been painted over to read: Welcome to Hoodlum Alley. they have two car shows a year at a nearby Agricultural Center on Saturday�s, one in the spring and one in the fall. But, the Friday night before the show, they always host a big cruise-in/party on the alley. They�re a neat bunch of guys and the city really supports them. We all need to be in a club like that.
