Hey Guys
Just got back from Knoxville and the 30th NSRA Nats South. This was an ambitious weekend for Judi and I.  Typically, we go to the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee the weekend before the Knoxville rod run. But... the NHRA did the old reschedule thing and moved the race to the same weekend as the Nats South. So... we decided to take them both in. As it turned out, the rain came on Sunday morning so after hanging out at the track for a couple of hours we decided to head for home.  As it turned out, I got to go back to Bristol the next day (Monday) for final eliminations. I think Im getting too old for this!!!
We went to Knoxville with our good friends, Keith and Carol Diehl. But this year, we also had our friends Bill and Sara Muck along. This was their first rod run so they were lots of fun. Sara was very interested, learned tons about street rods - who knows, she may be our next new street rodder. They traveled in their 2000 Mecham Trans Am while Judi and I rode the old 34. Sara asked Bill why do we have to follow them in that old car - itll take us 2 days to get there?  I loved it - she really got an education over the weekend.
While we were there, we got a chance to hang out with Jack and Minnie Roberts too. I dont know... seems like Jack and I both got brides far above what we deserve - God was sure good to us... or felt sorry for us for one! Jack want to blame me (or give me credit...) for getting into this camera/reporting thing.  Next, hell be blaming me for spending $700 on a new digital camera!!! Sorry Jack, Ill shoulder the picture taking blame, but youll have to take responsibility for buying your own equipment!!! Problem is, then Ill have to upgrade - then hell have to upgrade - then Ill have to..... this is a vicious circle....
I was impressed this year with the 46-48 Fords coming on. Also, the Buicks, Lincolns, and Caddys.  Its good to see the quality of different cars other than the more common Fords and Chevys really stepping up.  I hope you guys enjoy it too. Steve!!!
