This years Lone Star Round Up kicked off a day early with Thursday nights get together at the South Austin Speed Shop. Not only were Mercury Charlie and Fat Lucky having their 2nd Open House of the year after moving into larger facilities already, but it was also the showing of previews for Austin hot rodder Paul Wrights new movie Hot Rod Round Up.
Paul has worked in and around the Hollywood movie industry for some time, and says he just felt a need to show hot rodding in a friendly light. Paul shot the whole film with a hand-held 16mm camera and managed to capture a feel for the early days of hot rodding. Paul, who can be contacted at www.hotrodroundup.com, drives a very nice old school hot rod Deuce Roadster with no parts on it newer than 1946.
Their was live music, refreshments, and plenty of tire kicking going on, and everyone there was eagerly looking forward to the rest of The Lone Star Round Up.
By the way, your Ace reporter forgot his camera so heres a big thanks to Donut Gang Member Ken McDonald and his grandson for these fine shots. Richard Too Low Haas
