June 16, 2007 turned into one of the top 10 most exciting days of my life! I had heard that “Nanook”, a former world record holding (215 MPH/under 7 seconds in 1973) AA Fuel Altered drag car was to be a featured car at the Hot Rods & Hogs Car Show at the Maltby Christian Assembly Church in Snohomish County, Washington. Since I had a t-shirt with Nanook on it I decided to wear it to the show. What a suprise when the owner, Geno DeBortole, asked me if I wanted to sit in the car. After I got into the car he proceeded to show my wife Kathleen how to start the engine. What an incredible rush to be in the drivers seat when a 2000 HP nitro-burning 392 Chrysler comes to life! Even with special earmuffs on, it was the loudest noise I have ever heard in my life when he revved the engine to 8500 RPMs. There was a good mix of cars & motorcycles with heavy emphasis on muscle cars. Enjoy the pictures! Jim Ballard, Everett, WA
