with tons of food and beverages, live bands, a DJ, a huge car and bike show and best of all some of the coolest car people to hang with. This year’s event drew an estimated 2,000 people throughout the day and went well into the night.
Joe is also president of The Zombies Car Club (www.zombiescarclub.com), established in 1990. “We are a family-based car club whose love of God, family, friends, country and cars is evident,” Joe said. “Our goal is to educate the public in a bygone era--to the days of the drive-ins, sock hops, rock ‘n’ roll, rhythm and blues, hot rods, jalopies, lead sleds and kustoms. Each of our cars is a work of art in its own form. Much attention is given to the ‘rods and sleds’ of the era. A testament to the great builder's of the days gone bye. The Barris Bothers, Bill Hines, Larry Watson and Sam Westergard. Each member uses their vehicle as a unique interpretation of this love of the past.”
“This is what runs through our veins, our brains, our very skeletons as Zombies. I could go on and on, but you get the idea,” Joe added. “As our car club name denotes, we are resurrecting the dead, keeping the memories alive.”
Zombies’ cars range from the 1920s to late model vehicles, including Harley motorcycles and others. “We hope to keep the dreams and memories alive. They live on in our minds, our cars, our hearts, and our way of life,” Joe said. “Come and join us next year, step back, and be a part of the ‘Blast from the Past.’ We welcome you to Zombie-Ville.”
