Hi, The Ventura Highwaymen headed up to the Central Coast of Ca. for one of the best shows on the coast. The Bent Axles of Santa Maria are the force behind this outstanding cruise and show. This is a 3 day event starting with Fri. registration and a Strawberry Social featuring delicious local berries. In the evening the Highwaymen headed out for Mexican food as usual.
Sat. the car show was for the first time moved to Old Town Orcott, just a couple miles from the hotel. This new site has plenty of parking, restaurants, art and antique shops and was well liked by those that attended.
We are looking forward to being back there next year. Lots of door prizes were given out as usual. After the show the Highwaymen headed out for a good steak dinner as usual.
Sun. was a Poker run to an Air Museum, a Seniors Home, to give the residents a treat, then a truck stop where we all got our cars weighed after trying to guess how much they weighed. After that we were off to IMAGE Rod Shop for a tour of their facility and projects. The last stop was the site of the old Santa Maria Drag Strip where a fantastic Santa Maria style BBQ was held. These folks bend over backwards to make this BBQ one delicious event. Of course after the meal it was more door prizes again. When it was all over the members all lined up at the exit of the parking lot and thanked everyone for coming as we left.
