reasoning was that the torrential rain would hit Austin on Friday and then Houston on Saturday, give or take a few hours. It actually worked out that way but I guess in my excitement of attending the Roundup, it didn’t dawn on me that I would be meeting the storm head on my way to Austin! The first half of my trip (80 miles) never saw my speedometer go over fifty miles an hour and that was on the Interstate! For at least six miles of those miles I was “coasting” at 20 miles per hour. Even with my windshield wipers at high speed, it was nearly zero visibility. The important thing is I did get there and took plenty of photos to share with y’all. Check out the great looking rods, customs, trucks and motorcycles that have made the Lonestar Roundup one of the biggest events of its kind in the country. Literally hundreds of vehicles and thousands of spectators filled the massive Travis County Expo Center enjoying not only the cars, but great live music, plenty of vendors, a huge swap meet and plenty of good food. Afternoons had the event go mobile as almost everyone began cruising up and down South Congress that lasted well into the night. Although it’s “All Good”, one of my favorite parts of the show was their “Cacklefest” where nostalgic front engine dragsters, funny cars and altereds “fired it up” much to the delight of the adoring spectators. Again it’s a great show and it’s getting bigger and better every year. I hope you can make it to next year’s event and until then check out some of my photos. Hats off to the Austin based Kontinental Car Club for putting on the show. Enjoy!
