The Sultans Car Club of Long Beach, CA. have been around for about 44 years. Today the club is still going strong with 35 members. This is the 19th year of their car show and it has always been held on the grass at beautiful Signal Hill Park. The old, well maintained trees provided shade for over 200 pre-’75 cars. The best thing about this show is that you will see all styles of cars, Classics, Lowriders, Street Rods, Customs, and Hot Rods. Even a British (Gottlieb) Daimler showed up?

The live music was provided by “Sultan” Johnny Rocket & the V-Twins. A nice selection of 30 or so interesting vendors booths lined the parking lot. The event also had a raffle, 50/50 and a great BBQ. The “special” awards included some that were handmade.

Thanks for the Show!

The last time I saw this car it was competing for Americas Most Beautiful Roadster at the 2009 Grand National Roadster Show. The O’Dell’s from Canyon Lake, CA. have created this sleek version of a ’36 Ford roadster. The grille is from a Cadillac LaSalle, headlight lens and trim rings are also LaSalle, turn signal covers are from the top of a LaSalle grille, Cad hubcaps, the highly customized
rearend is finished off with Lincoln Zephyr taillights, and the immaculate interior features a beautiful wood dash. It looks great sitting in the grass here at the Sultans show!

Clarence Gibson drove his (faux) blown small block Chevy powered ’23 Ford “T” in from Los Angeles, CA. His blower is a hollow case covering a 4 barrel carburetor!

“Half ‘n Half”!! This very attractive ’57 Ford T-bird has some unusual modifications. The customized interior includes a tonneau cover with head rests, the engine is a Chevy LS1, the headlight rims are ’56 Oldsmobile, and the grille
insert is Chevy Corvette. All this was done by owner Ethan Belcher!
