The 2009 Hot Rod Super Nationals came to Lincoln, Nebraska May 29-31, attracting more than 1500 cool cars and trucks to State Fair Park. Speedway Motors celebrated the event by inviting participants over to its facility for a special After Hours Party on Saturday night.
Hundreds of cars and thousands of people showed up to enjoy the evening and take tours of the fantastic Smith Collection Museum of American Speed. Auto tech students from nearby Southeast Community College had an engine-building competition to see which of two teams could assembly a small-block Chevy more quickly. Speedway Motors also gave away prizes throughout the evening featuring goodies from companies that helped sponsor the party, including Comp Cams, Holley, Ididit, K&N Engineering, Matrix Distributing, Maval Manufacturing, Moroso Performance, Painless Performance Products, Performance Racing Warehouse, Pertronix, Racing Head Service, RAM Automotive, Redline Oil, Hushmat, Spal, Super Bell and Thermo-Tec. Of course, “Speedy” Bill Smith was also on hand to sign autographs and talk with spectators.
The following photos show some highlights from the evening. For more information on Speedway Motors or the Smith Collection Museum of American Speed, visit www.SpeedwayMotors.com or www.MuseumOfAmericanSpeed.com.
