The 2009 Syracuse Nationals was represented by four members of the Westchester Street Rod Association; one each from Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New York and South Carolina.
I spent some time at registration on Thursday, a beautiful day. Friday produced on and off showers. Saturday was the best day for me. I was able to spend the entire day with my son Andrew.
The round trip of 1941 miles produced only one small set-back. Entering Virginia on the trip home my 55 Chevy picked up a serious vibration. The tire developed a bump the size of my fist on the tread surface and the steel cords penetrated the inner sidewall. We were successful in getting off the interstate and to a tire store for a replacement. The rest of the trip was safe and uneventful. Guys and girls.....a lesson, check the dates on your tires.
