"The Texas Mile High Speed Shootout has been around for a few years now, but this is the first time I have had the chance to make it.
Wow! Over 300 MPH in the standing start mile, with only a mile to shut down. The first thing I noticed was a giant lack of Hot Rods.....there were a few there, but this seems like such a natural for the guys who want to see just how fast their coupe or roadster with the blown big block will go. Lots of bikes, lots of Mustangs (They seemed to rule the track, with several of them breaking the 200 MPH mark), even lots of exotic brands like Ferrari and Lamborghini.....but not many Hot Rods? I just don't get it. The guys that were there with Hot Rods all said that they were having a great time, and that this was waaaay more fun than drag racing.
It was a pretty windy day, but it was a tail wind, so nobody was complaining. Everyone was very friendly, and while there were a couple of spots to buy something to eat, this
