The First Krispy Kreme Car Gathering of 2010

When I saw that Saturday the 20th was going to be sunny with a possible record high temperature, I grabbed the opportunity to launch the first Krispy Kreme car gathering of 2010. There's nothing I enjoy more than getting my classic car out of the garage and out on the street - and I know that other members of the Cinema Classics Car Club feel the same way. It turned out to be a nice, mostly sunny day with a high of 70 degrees, which was one degree off of the record high of 71 degrees set in 1960.

So, on Friday, I quickly put the word out on Saturday's proposed gathering. I personally invited the local members of my club, but also got the word out online that everyone and anyone with a classic car was invited. It turned out to be our biggest club gathering to date. We had a total of 8 movie and TV theme cars present. Then we had other people with classic cars who just stopped by for a quick visit to see what this gathering was all about. All in all we had about 18 cars attend including the club's cars. Not bad for an impromptu gathering that was just a brainstorm the day before! Most everyone who came down to Krispy Kreme helped themselves to coffee and doughnuts. And I must say, the coffee is excellent and super-inexpensive, and the doughnuts are always top-notch!

This is the kind of cruising I like to do - and apparently so do many other cruisers! Good cheap eats, good friends and hot cars! This is what cruise-ins used to consist of: no strict time frames on when you come and go and no fees (thus no trophies and no competition!). It's ALL ABOUT the cars.

I want to send out a special thanks to the General Manager of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Anthony Gallegos, for allowing the use of his parking lot and being receptive to the classic car culture. I want to put the word out that this business really supports the classic cars and in turn we really need to support this business. There are big things to come very soon with the teaming up of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and the Cinema Classics Car Club. Stay tuned for more details!
