On Saturday April 23, the 15th Cool Cruise was held in the beautiful old town setting of La Verne, CA.  This show began years ago with a foundation of “Quality” and “Organization”.  This foundation has been evident in all the Cool Cruise shows, but even more so this year. Along with support of the Old Town Business Improvement District and The City of La Verne, they have created one of the best car shows in Southern California.

The traditional start of this show is a feature that has long been a hit with the crowd. After most of the cars have been parked, the “Power Parade” begins, 10-12 bad blown cars are driven thru the show to their parking spots. Ear plugs should be considered, but it’s a lot of fun. The word “quality” can also be applied to the commercial vendors, food, music, prizes, and awards. Promoter LD Johnson and his tireless staff all contribute to a well-organized event.  They even managed to get a nice day out of what had been cool and overcast earlier.  Over 800 cars of every color created a perfect match for the Easter holiday.  The “intersection” was cluttered with more very high quality vehicles than any other outside show.  Let’s see what next year brings. The committee will be hard-pressed to top this years' event!!

Thanks for the Show!

Traditionally the “Power Parade” kicks off the day. Leading the parade and  showing some flames is “Wild Thang” a ’34 Chevy with 12-71 blown ARAIS power, built by Phil Leatherman of Extreme Automotive.

The prestigious “Intersection” is where elite cars gather. “John Henry”  was a famous race horse. That same heritage seems to be the theme in Dennis DeCamp’s ’70 Ford Mustang from West Covina, CA.  The internals are, a injected 427 Roush Ford with 548 HP, trick suspension, and a Tremec 5 speed.  It is also the Goodguys 2010 “Muscle Machine of the Year”!
