Here is the 4th segment to the building of the Anniversary frames.

We are presenting these segments to illustrate the detail and time actually involved in assembling the Anniversary Frames. These segments are not a step by step instructional series that one can use to build the Anniversary Frame. These are merely snap shots highlighting certain points in the assembly process. Hours upon hours are spent between these snap shots in fabrication, drilling , setting rivets and welding.

This segment covers some of the most time consuming areas in building the Anniversary Frames, the frame connectors, interlocking gussets and the front crossmember corner gussets. The front crossmember corner gussets ties the backside corners of the front crossmember to the recessed boxing plates. There are three pieces that make up each corner front gusset. Each piece like all the gusset pieces are hand fitted to every application. Once fitted in place the pieces are tack welded in place, ensuring a good tight fit. The gusset is then final welded and finish ground. It is then riveted to the boxing plate. The boxing plate has to be removed from each rail to set the mounting rivets in the corner gussets. The final riveting of the front corner gussets to the front crossmember takes place after each boxing plate is welded to the frame rails. We still have a lot to accomplish before we can weld the boxing plates in place. The frame connectors are located in line with the center line of the trans mount. The frame connectors tie the X member legs to the frame rails. Each frame connector has 4 gussets, two riveted to the top and two riveted to the bottom plane of the frame. The gussets wrap around the boxing plate upper and bottom lips. This interlocking design adds strength to the final assembly. Adding tortional and diagonal rigidity to the frame is the final result of the many hours spent.
