It took 7 long years in the garage to complete the SS 427 Chevelle Convertible and 2 Long years and a lot of help to finish the 47 Ford Woodie.
First of all Southern California Woodie members, Jim Corcores, Terry Rogers, Tom Mac Donald, Tim from Nick Alexanders, Kelly Owen, Bruce Wood and others (sorry not good at name memory) helped our club member Tag Garber get his very rare 48 Mercury woodie on the road after a 5-6 year hiates. We coined the name for the day "Wrenchin on Tags Woodie Day" by the grace of God it all went well like a well oiled machine... The more knowlgeable ones; Jim, Tim & Kelly would start a task and the less knowledgeable ones would complete it...Tag can now join us in what Wudheads do best...cruise Pacific Coast Highway lookin for surf.
Next was BBQ day at the most awesome collection in the world, Nick Alexanders Garage which closely resembles The Ford Woodie Factory @ Iron Mountain... simply breathtaking. We especially enjoyed the bigger than life black and white photos of the original assembly line.
We start our Wudheads early checking out the trade papers looking for Muscle Cars and Woodies...our son Joshua & wife Rhianna's Daughter Sierra already giggles when she sees a car she likes
I feel quite blessed to have a wife that enjoys the Woodie Club as much as I do. That is her ironing out the dents in the wood. It really worked, a tip not from Martha Stewart but from the TV show "This Old House" and Also My Good friend David St. Amand, a buddy from High School (he purchased my 63 1/2 Ford 406 4speed in 1970)
14 coats of varnish sanding between coats, sanding alone takes 1 person 14 hours and varnishing takes 1 person 4 hours needless to say we are glad that is over.
