Syracuse Nationals

Syracuse, New York

July 20-22, 2001

Well, Jack and Mary Ann are on the road to meet the visitors to our site at car shows across the country , and the Syracuse Nats was their first stop. From what we heard from them, they're having a great time.  We got  back a ton of great pictures and commentary of their adventures.  So, buckle up your seat belt and prepare for a cross country trip with us

We didn't think that Bob McLean, Bob O'Conner and the crew at the Syracuse Nats could outdo last years show...but we were wrong...This year the show was even better.  More cars, more vendors and lots of great people!! The final count for cars was 5840 entries and over 40,000 visitors to the show. WOW !

As usual, our trip to the show also involves "scouting" along the roads and highways for treasure.  Out west you can spot that glint of the sun hitting a windshield pretty easily and jump off the highway to investigate...

This isn't a rod picture.  But in Wyoming while scanning the horizon for cars, we saw an Ultralite aircraft that was coming down with his parachute out...Not fun!

This is big Jim of Vernal, UT in Rawlings, WY towing home his latest find...a '54 Hudson.  Jim says he has lots more at home!!

We found this Chevelle in a field in
Laramie, WY.

In Laramie, WY   Jack went to
investigate a field of cars and an
antelope walked up behind him.

We ran into a little rain and road construction  that put a damper on the hunt, then by the time we got  into Indiana we were either on a turnpike or toll road which made it tough to jump off when we spotted cars that looked interesting.  We were limited to what we saw at the service areas.

We saw this outfit in a service area near Elkhart, Indiana.  Don't know who it was...but what a way to travel!!

This is the first rod we saw that was actually headed to the Syracuse show.  W passed this '32 Ford on I-90 near Clifton Springs, NY.  On Saturday they stopped by our booth so we could tell you who was driving that '32.  It was Greg Schickler from Churchville, NY.

From the looks of those bullet holes in the HRHL Durango--that cop missed the bad guys!!!

This was our police escort to the show!!! None other than Frank Carey in his '37 Ford Police Car. Frank is a member of the North Jersey Street Rod Association.   Thanks for the Escort Frank !

Cruisin' thru downtown Syracuse heading towards the show.

The people in Syracuse LOVE cars...take a look at the welcome we got when we
arrived for the show everyday!  WOW!!!
