MY 40 FORD

Car was a basket case when I bought it almost 20 years ago. It took me about three years to get it back on the road and I have been driving it ever since. I did a major overhaul about two years ago, wanted something different so I went with the early 50's look. The way I remembered hot rods when I was in school. Remember the wide whites, custom hub caps, spots, fender skirts, dual exhaust, fuzzy dice and a sun visor? The straight axle was replaced with a Heidt front end. The Chev 350 was warmed up with an Edelbrock cam and dual four-barrels. A set of World heads and a Pertronix ignition. The interior was still in good shape, but the dash was painted two-tone and a Flaming River column was added with a Forty style steering wheel. I repainted the car black and had some small pin striping added. Under the deck lid handle I had "Old School" lettered and below that in small letters "TEACHER" was added, since I am a retired Industrial Arts teacher. Future plans call for new rugs and some updates on the 350 automatic and the Vintage Air. My other project is re-doing a 71 Torino. Since I spend so much time in the garage, I have the nickname "GARAGE HERMIT"
