Owned and built by Troy Curtsinger, Prairie Grove, Arkansas. GRAND Champion ISCA 1998. Full custom class, has won every show entered and won hundreds of awards. We was at Boise in 98 ISCA show, won best custom and best individual display. Had lots of fun there except for the trans I had to have fixed in my 90 bourbon tow rig. I went on to win Grand Champion at the end of the season. Car is still showable.

Here is my latest ride.  I've been building rods since high school.  Class of '65 and still alive.  No the factory didn't make one, so I did.  It's got the usual 350, with a 700R-4 and 9" Ford rear.  Front frame clip is from a '79 El Camino, now with air ride.  The full body-off treatment. Fun to drive and is a great place to take a nap on the way to gear head rendezvous.  I roll with the Thursday Night Garage Association here in Western Washington.  Craig VanSant

My first street rod project, it was a rust bucket when I got it. After tossing the fenders, running boards, hood and trunk lid and removing the lower 4" of the body, it wasn't rusty any more. It is slant chopped, shaved, front fenders molded to running boards, hood pie cut and rolled forward, sectioned hood sides re-shaped rear deck lid, re-shaped front fenders, 355 c.i., 350 trans 12 bolt rear. Most all work except paint, glass and upholstery was done in my garage by myself and a friend. It took eight years. Drives great, looks good, well worth the effort.

The car has a slant six, the engine that is in the car now isn't The original nor is the transmission. The car originally had a 1966, 170 slant six; it also was originally a 3-speed on the column (I still have both so it could be considered a numbers matching car). Now the car has a 1976, 225 "super" six (slant six), painted red with a powder coated (silver) intake with a fairly new card. It has ceramic coated dual 3 into 1 headers made by Clifford Performance.

I bought this car in 1993 in regular conditions, (picture stude1993.jpg). In 1998 I started to restore it, and this process took two long years. In 2000 the car started run again. The engine is a Ford Y-block 272", with a C4 automatic transmission. All mechanic components (chassis, breaks, suspension, engine, transmission, etc.) came from a Ford Galaxie 1969.

More Images: Fat Fendered Chevy Truck

After wanting a fat-fender Chevy truck since I was a kid, I finally got one when I retired in 1999. I thought I was buying a pickup that I could do a “few” things to, have a nice daily driver and be satisfied. However, upon getting her home, seeing all her imperfections I did a frame-off reconstruction that took me three years. After doing all the work myself and thinking she was just what I wanted, I drove her across the Cascades to a show in Puyallup and knew immediately that I wanted more power. I changed the engine from a in-line to a 350. Now… she was just perfect.
