More Images: 38 Dodge Race car

Thought I might send you a few photos of how the Old 38 Dodge Race car looks today. After two seasons of building, going to races and rebuilding, We have a vintage race car that has a win or two that brought the old car back to life. We found a lady that grew up next door to the original builder and has filled us with all kinds of photos and history. We are members of "Midwest Jalopies" and race at tracks in North East Iowa and have traveled to Illinois. The Midwest Jalopies Vintage Race Car Club has been very active in bringing excitement to the fans. YES, We race to win, not just parade around the track. We keep it clean and safe BUT, there is plenty of competion. Drag out those old racecars and look us up if you are close and bring life back to that old coupe or sedan, believe me, the old car will like being young again.

Van Mettler’s 1949 Chevy Coupe

Has a mild custom done to it. I shaved the door handles, frenched the headlights, taillights, and the license plate. I left the 235 six cylinder in it and split the manifold. It is all jammed in color and primed in hot rod black primer, the interior needs finishing. My next project is a 1948 Packard. Thanks for looking.

1941 Ford Super Deluxe Convertible

This 41 Ford convertible was purchased by my dad in 1957 for $65. He drove it on and off until 1967. It was dismantled in 1984 and finally in 2007 started going through the build process. With the creative work of my friends, the car is well on its way to completion. It has a custom frame with coilover Corvette suspension, LS-2/automatic combination, and loads of creature comforts. It will soon be painted Torch Red and be fitted with a Paul Atkins' interior. Dad is real pleased with the evolution the car has made since the days of the '60's custom. Thanks dad for hanging on to the old ride! (Irvine, Kentucky).

1964 Buick Skylark Convertible

This is a pic of a 1964 Buick Skylark Convert. I found in Michigan behind a funeral home. It has 20,500 original miles on it. The old lady I bought if from wanted 2000.00 for it because that is what she paid for it in the 60's.  I managed to talk her down to 700.00 cash. Towed it to the shop, changed all the fluids, a new battery and started right up.  Drove it home the next day. Greg Vera    Lakeview, Michigan

1948 Chevy Sedan

I've been building this 1948 Chevy for 5 years. Finally got it on the road in October. The only part that is 1948 is the Body, rear glass and the frame, from the firewall back. Has a 71 Nova front clip, 350 crate engine, 71 Camaro front bumper. No junk yard parts in this car, except for the 94 Ford probe seats. I 've done all the modification myself, welding fabrications, planning and painting - The only work that I did not do, was sewing of the seat covers and headliner and door panels. I got it on the road with the new paint on the third week of October 2008. First time my wife of 25 years rode in it was October-22-2008, on our 25th anniversary. We went out cruising for 3 hours and enjoyed everything. Roy Heath from Asheville, NC
