NHRA Museum with Wallys Roadster

   The big story in our industry this week, of course, is the passing of Wally Parks. Wally was perhaps the single most important person in the formation of what has come to be Hot Rodding.   In the 1930’s Parks was just like you and I ..... a guy who loved cars and loved to go fast !  He was instrumental in the formation of the SCTA,went on to found the NHRA  as a way to make the sport safe, and was the first editor of Hot Rod Magazine. Wally loved this hobby every day of his life and it showed when even at age 94, he attended shows, races and all of the Hot Rod functions he could get to... always a smile on his face and a willing ear to hear people talk about their cars and their racing trials. Wally Parks will be dearly missed .... We have put together a Memories page where you can read the memories of others and send in your own Memories of Wally Parks... Our sympathies and love go out to Richard and David Parks and all of the Parks family .... It’s almost here ... The California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield California... It’s the BEST TIME a Car Guy can have ! The reunion features top nostalgia drag racers competing in such categories as Top Fuel, Junior Fuel, Supercharged Gassers, and A/FX, as well as a variety of exhibition entries. Over 1,400 street rods, customs, muscle cars and street machines will be on hand at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds this fall as the National Street Rod Association® presents its 6th Annual Golden State Nationals®.
