Long time National Hot Rod Association President Tom Compton officially announced his retirement last Wednesday, as the NHRA named executive vice president and general manager Peter Clifford to take over the top spot.
Chairman of the Board Dallas Garnder made to announcement at the NHRA headquarters in Glendora, CA.
“Peter Clifford will be an outstanding president of the NHRA,” Gardner said. “Peter’s faithful and effective service to all constituents of the NHRA family will ensure a spectacular new era for everyone who loves our sport, and he brings a passion for the NHRA that is unmistakable. Peter is most deserving of his new appointment, and we know he is more than up to the challenges and opportunities on the horizon."
Compton, who lead the organization for the past 15 years, was a driving force behind many of the changes that have resulted in the current state of the NHRA for drivers, sponsors and fans.
Clifford has been responsible for many of the business relationships between the NHRA and its national event facilities, as well as strategic planning efforts, IT, publications, and member tracks.
