Toys-For- Tots Show
Wayne’s Speed Shop in South Amboy New JerseySaturday, December 7, 2013
For the 2nd year in row I made it to the ‘Toys-For-Tots’ Show sponsored by Wayne’s Speed Shop in South Amboy New Jersey. As you can surmise, the purpose of this Show is to collect toys for the kids who otherwise wouldn’t be having much in the way of a merry Christmas, and to hopefully, even for just a moment, put a little joy in the lives of these kids. There is NO admission fee, however, the one requirement, is that every participant bring at least one new unwrapped toy, for the Marines ‘Toys-4-Tots’ program. To say the least, the response was tremendous, with two U-Haul trucks, and several others, packed to the rafters with a variety of toys for those who are less fortunate than we are. The turnout of vehicles, despite the threatening weather, was fantastic, with this writer having to park 2-/12 blocks away from the main Show area, due to the large number of Show vehicles in attendance at this Show. Bryan, and a dedicated cadre of friends organize this event, and they absolutely deserve praise for all their hard work. These guys, and all the participants help prove something I’ve known for a long time, and that is ‘Car People’ are good folks, no matter how hardcore they are, and they realize, that but for the grace of g-d go I, so when the opportunity presents itself to help those who have little or nothing, ‘Car People’ happily step up to the plate and give.
