Hi from Australia, howz it going over there. We were meant to be over there this August but family problems now mean next year.
I have been on holidays from rodding for the last 30 years and as they say once you have had a rod /cruzer then it’s always with you, inside. Anyway I’m back and staying this time. Since being back we have built and sold a 59 Star Model, a 47 Chevy Ute (you guys call them Pickups) a 67 Pontiac Coupe and are building a 1960 International Pickup and a 1951 Chevy. The Chevy has a 39 Willys rear window fitted, shaved door handles, recessed cabby taillights and indicators, and frenched headlights. The chassis is notched and front springs have been lowered. The front clip is out of a Torino (something like a Nova clip) our driver at the moment is a 1951 Hudson Pacemaker that looks like a heavy custom job but is close to stock bodied. Dropped on the ground, huge spats, and is a real head turner.
Anyway I would like to some how get in touch with a club you have over-there calling themselves the DA- FENDERS HOTROD CLUB. I think they might be down New Orleans, not sure though. I also seem to remember seeing them at a Las Vegas car show. In other words I have no idea. Any help would be great. It would be great if you were able to track down the Da-Fenders for me. I want to open up a chapter here in Aussie and want to have a look at what I remember to be a cool emblem.
I have included a couple of photos of one of our rides that has been finished since 1994. We hope to take it off the road when our 1960 International pickup is finished and freshen it up. It runs a 351 Cleveland / C4 combo and an 8-3/4 Mustang diff. Merc interior and a classic paint job. The Pontiac we just sold and the 47 Chevrolet Ute has just been finished. We are not quite happy with it and need to take it off the road for a final finishing. I will keep in touch.
Stay well Ray Clover.
