As is often the case, Corky Coker's passion for automobiles started in his youth when, as a teenager, he was employed in his father's retail tire outlet. Although he started studying veterinary medicine in college, Corky soon learned that was not his passion and switched his major to business... a step which has served him well in leadership roles in both his company and in trade associations. The direction of the family business began to change in 1974 when Corky took over the portion of the operation that represented only five-percent of the company's business. Today that portion of the company accounts for 95-percent of the business. Coker Tire is the world's largest distributor of antique and classic tires for automobiles, trucks and motorcycles, and the exclusive worldwide distributor of B.F.Goodrich Silvertown, Firestone and Firestone Wide Oval, and U.S. Royal vintage tires, along with offering their own brand of tires.
