Rick Dore Makes a Family Dream come True

October 16, 2006 It’s not often a custom car builder can fulfill a family’s dream. It was about a year ago that Arizona designer/builder; Rick Dore received a call from Pat Warner of New Jersey, who asked Rick if he would finish a 1969 Pontiac Firebird for her family. Rick was about to tell her he usually doesn’t do that type of car when Pat stated that it was for her kids and a tribute to her late husband, Brian Warner who was lost in the twin towers on 9/11. Rick was so honored he couldn’t say no and went full steam ahead into the project.

The Pontiac convertible was a project that Pat’s late husband, who had a passion for Firebirds, had stated in 1992-93 and she wanted to finish the car so their 6-year-old son and 8-year-old daughter can have their dads Firebird convertible to remember him. She wants the car to stay in the family and never be sold so it had to be done right. Pat is a friend of Don and Flo Makofski for whom Rick had built a custom 1950 Hudson that won the Custom D’Elegance

Award at the 2003 San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show and they recommended Rick for the project.

Rick started with an artist rendering and is in the process of a ground - up build of the custom 1969 Pontiac Firebird worthy of honoring Brian, who worked at Kanter/Fitzgerald in the twin towers and lost his life on September 11, 2001.

The Warner families car will be unveiled Friday evening, January, 12, 2007, at the San Francisco Rod, Custom and Motorcycle Show when Pat and her family will see the car for the very first time since Rick picked the car up in New Jersey earlier this year.
