Del Mar, CA - Kevin and Karen Alstott's highly acclaimed 1935 Ford roadster was crowned Goodguys Street Rod d’Elegance for 2007. The Alstott's accepted the award in front of a capacity crowd at the Goodguys 7th Del Mar Nationals during Sunday’s final awards ceremony. This puts an exclamation point on an amazing year and a half run with the unique roadster. In 2006, the car won the coveted Ridler award at the Detroit Autorama, then followed that up with the title of America’s Most Beautiful Roadster at this year’s Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA. With the d’Elegance crown at Goodguys Del Mar it becomes only the second car in hot rod history to bag all three awards in succession. The only other car to complete the Detroit-Pomona-Del Mar trifecta was Ken Reister’s 1936 Ford “Impression.”
Built by Midwest craftsman Roger Burman and his crew at Lakeside Rods & Rides, the Alstott’s ’35 Ford is a stunning, contemporary all steel roadster. In fact, Marcel DeLay, who was inducted into the GNRS Hall of Fame this year, hand crafted the body on the roadster.
