column-shifted three-speed manual transmission. The 290 cid “Typhoon” V8, American Motor’s new engine, was the next step up. The 290 four-barrel, though the base engine in the AMX, seems an anomaly in the Javelin, costing $250 with the mandatory four-speed. The 290’s horsepower was reputed to be underrated, however, making the engine an “insurance special”. This beautiful 1969 Javelin Fastback has had only 2 registered owners. Previous owner and person responsible for restoring the vehicle was Jay C., from Utah. The vehicle restoration began in 2001 and was completed in 2007. Current owner Dennis F. purchased the vehicle approximately mid 2007 and is truly the car’s biggest fan. All restoration, body work, and painting was completed by Jay C. The car’s color is called “Mesquite Blue” and is all original. Today the car is worth many times its original purchase price.
