As many of you may know, we lost one of the founding members of the Donut Derelicts Rick Finn passed away Saturday, September 23, 2006. There was no one more enthusiastic or supportive to the Hot Rod Culture than Rick, he was literally the face of the Donut Derelicts, appearing as unofficial spokesperson for the Saturday morning ritual countless times on TV and in magazine articles. Rick was the artist who created all of the Donut Derelicts and Hot Rod Life apparel. Rick’s efforts can be seen on the backs of hot rodders around the world. The Hot Rod & Custom Car community has suffered a great loss, and Rick will be sorely missed.
On Saturday, September 29th we want to celebrate Rick’s life and his passions for those things chopped, candied, flamed, and flaked! We will be gathering at 6:30 am near “Rick’s Parking Place” at the Donut Derelict on the corner of Adams and Magnolia in Huntington Beach. Please wear your favorite Hot Rod Life or Donut Derelict t-shirt in remembrance of Rick.
Following this, we will have a memorial cruise for Rick. We will head west on Adams Ave to Main Street, then south on Main to PCH. We will go south on PCH and end the cruise in the parking lot behind Gelsons Market in Dana Point. The Gelsons Market is located in the Monarch Bay Plaza Center at 24 Monarch Bay Plaza, on the corner of Crown Valley Parkway and Pacific Coast Highway. Turn left at Monarch Bay Plaza off of PCH, one block south of Crown Valley Parkway.
