A copy of this ran on strips for 2 years but with a Javelin body. Why? Midstream in its construction Doug received a new sponsorship from American Motors. The car was renamed “Javelin 2” on a Logge Funny Car Chassis, Detroit. [Note: As history turns out Doug thereafter retired the winning Corvair and replaced it with yet a third car “Javelin 1”−one of the first rear engine funny cars.]
“Javelin 2” never returned from touring. DID YOU SEE IT RUN? It along with a 1965 Chevy 1 ton car-hauler are missing in action. If you have information/photographs regarding this car’s last few appearances or whereabouts please let Doug know!!!
Send info to Doug Thorley, Attention: Don Burdge, 9132 Iroquois Way, Weldon, CA 93283. If you prefer contact Doug & Don at Historic Race Car Forum via email at dburdge@flex.com.
Doug’s “Chevy 2 Much” Funny Car in the Wally Park’s NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA, is going up for sale to allow Doug to further pursue “Javelin 2” and other projects. HELP IF YOU CAN!
