Snake and Mongoose Dinner, Night of Champions and Racing Collectible Show in a Single Week, Feb. 7-9, 2008

POMONA, Calif. (Feb. 1, 2008) - Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California, kicks off the year with dinner hosted by two legends of drag racing, an open discussion with current driving stars and a racing collectible show. Combined they make an event-filled week at the Parks Museum..

Thurs., Feb. 7, 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. "A Night with Snake and Mongoose" is the title for a special dinner open to the public and held at the Parks Museum. Don "The Snake" Prudhomme and Tom "The Mongoose" McEwen are co-hosts for the event, which will include highlights from the recently released DVD Once Upon a Wheel: Match Race. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the Museum at 909/622-2133. Tickets are $125 each or $1,100 for a table of 10. All proceeds from the event, which includes a memorabilia auction, will directly benefit the Parks Museum.

 Winternationals, the free event, hosted by NHRA announcer Bob Frey, allowsracing fans to spend time at the Museum and meet current and former drag racing stars. Featured drivers for the Auto Club Q&A session include Doug Herbert, Hillary Will, Antron Brown and Jack Beckman.

Race fans can find memorabilia from every era at the Collectible Show

Sat., Feb. 9, Noon - 10 p.m. Collectibles from yesterday and today, including racing apparel, die-cast models, hat pins, postcards, old tickets and programs, will be on display at the Museum's Racing Collectible Show. Museum admission is free, as are children under 12, but entry for adults to the collectible show is $5.

During race weekend, the Parks Museum will be open for extended hours and a free tram will run between the Museum and Auto Club Raceway at Pomona.

Named for the founder of the National Hot Rod Association, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California houses the very roots of hot rodding. Scores of famous vehicles spanning American motorsports history are on display, including winning cars representing 50 years of drag racing, dry lakes and salt-flat racers, oval track challengers and exhibits describing their colorful backgrounds.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST. Current NHRA members are admitted free and Auto Club members enjoy a $2 discount. Admission for non-members is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors 60 and older, $5 for juniors six through 15, and free for children under the age of five. The Museum is also available for private parties, meetings, corporate events, weddings and special group tours. The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is located at Fairplex Gate 1, 1101 W.
