Parade of Gleaming Hot Rods Cruise to the 8th Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion
June 18-20, 2010

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Grounds at Heartland Park at the Holiday Inn University Plaza will be packed with a gleaming mix of metal and chrome on Thursday, June 17 for the 8th annual Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion Kick Off Celebration featuring the Heacock Classic Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and Cruise. The Heacock Cruise will feature more than 150 colorful hot rods and muscle cars, and serve as the opening ceremonies for the popular Reunion, set for June 18-20 at Beech Bend

The Cruise is open to all cars registered for the Reunion’s Show N Shine. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. City officials, along with representatives from event sponsor Holley will be there to cut the tape. The event is set to end at the National Corvette Museum. At the Museum enjoy a discounted $5 admission and try the new 50s-themed Corvette Café.

“There will be lots of excitement and great cars,” said Tony Thacker, Reunion event director. “It’ll be great family fun.”

Thacker is encouraging residents of Bowling Green to “Come on down to the Holiday Inn and check out the hot rods. Bring the kids for a great night out and be part of the kick-off festivities of the NHRA Holley National Hot Rod Reunion. There’s nothing else like it.”

5 p.m. – Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Begins at the Grounds at Heartland Park

5:30 p.m. – Depart Police-Escorted Cruise through downtown Bowling Green to the National Corvette Museum

Named for the founder of the National Hot Rod Association, the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California houses the very roots of hot rodding. Scores of famous vehicles spanning American motorsports history are on display, including winning cars representing 50 years of drag racing, dry lakes and salt-flat racers, oval track challengers and exhibits describing their colorful backgrounds.

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST. Current NHRA members are admitted free. Admission for non-members is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors 60 and older, $6 for juniors 6 through 15, and free for children under the age of 5. The Museum is also available for special group tours. The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is located at Fairplex Gate 1, 1101 W. McKinley Ave. in Pomona.
