Bob Frey, long-time announcer for motorsports racing, is working on a personal project to find and save all elapsed times (ET) and speeds for NHRA pro class results at national events. He has compiled the qualifying and round times (ET) and speeds for NHRA national events beginning with the first race at Great Bend, Kansas in 1955, up to the present day. He is lacking some times (ET) and speeds for the pro classes from the mid-1960's to around 1975. If anyone has time slips, newspaper clippings, time sheets, trophies, programs with marked-in speeds and times (ET) or any other type of record the Bob would be very grateful for your help.
Here's the kind of info Bob is looking for:
1971 Springnationals, Dallas, TX
Qualifiers
#1 Don Schumacher 6.787 214.28
#2 Don Prudhomme 6.850 215.85
He has most of the information about the Funny Car qualifying but needs a few more speeds to complete the list (and any DNQ or alternate drivers).
In addition to Bob Frey's quest to compile all the records for NHRA events, there are also others who are striving to find and compile records and information on timing associations that are no longer in existence or which are still in existence but did not keep those old records in their files. You can contact Bob through Richard Parks ([email protected]) or Jim Miller
