High School Students Nationwide to Complete at SEMA in Las Vegas in 2012
The exciting 2012 season of Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge will be wrapping up at the SEMA Show this November with the 4th annual "Showdown at SEMA" National Championship. An additional two teams will be competing this year for a total of twelve High School Auto Tech Teams challenging for the top spot.
In 2012 the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Challenge program expanded for the fourth straight year by adding the SKILLS USA Georgia Event and the Georgia Open. These additional events allowed for an additional 112 students to participate this year. Through the eight events this year we saw over 600 students learn how to build and develop teamwork, demonstrate their skills, enthusiasm, ingenuity and build their confidence by competing under pressure in this challenging program.
To help nurture these student’s interest in automotive technology, three colleges, Ohio Technical College (OTC), University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) and School of Automotive Machinists (SAM), will be awarding scholarships to the students that participated in the eight events and the "Showdown at SEMA". In the last three to four years, these colleges have stepped up, above and beyond in support of this program and are offering over $2.5 Million in scholarships to these students in 2012. To date OTC, UNOH, and SAM have offered over $6 Million dollars in scholarships to 1,675 Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Competitors!
