At 12 noon, the doors of Cobo Hall swung opened to the throngs of car crazy gearheads waiting in line. Inside were more than 1,000 exhibits of rods, customs and motorcycles, chopped, channeled, slammed and drenched in eye popping pearls, candies and velvet primers.
The participants who brought their rolling art from across the US and overseas were there to compete in the greatest in-door car show and the prized Ridler award. In the lower level known as the ‘Rat Cellar’ were the traditional rods, customs and rat rods. Here is a sampling of the best.
