Spring Carlisle was the third event for Carlisle Events in 2016, but for Carlisle Auctions, the two-day collector car auction, which was part of the annual spring offering, marked the half-way point in its 2016 schedule. All sorts of records were shattered at the spring auction for Carlisle Auctions, and the future is looking promising with two auctions remaining this year, one to take place in Carlisle and the other in Lakeland, FL.
Spring Carlisle was hosted at the Carlisle Expo Center on April 21 and 22 and moved over 400 consignments, including some of the finest restoration pieces made available in quite some time. Along with selling lots of cars and trucks, the auction raised money for charity. Over the span of the two-day event, the auction team and its supporters raised $11,300 for those in need. $3,700 of that raised will stay local and benefit the Carlisle chapter of the Salvation army whie another $7,600 will go to Susquehanna Service for Dogs.
Charitable efforts were made toward the amount raised, but the big dollars came via a 60% sell through rate. By selling more than half of the available lots, Carlisle Auctions managed to come out with its highest sales total ever, with over $4,1 million coming in through a room filled with spirited bidders. The bidders were also a big factor in the amount raised, helping Carlisle Auctions achieve its highest number of registered bidders for an auction showcase.
Five impressive pieces of machinery contributed heavily to the 60% and $4.1 million. The top five items amassed $398,500 and spanned three decades of production. The top five were:
- 1958 Corvette - $88,000
- 1966 Corvette - $82,000
- 1977 Boss Mustang - $77,500
- 1970 Mach 1 Mustang - $77,000
- 1970 Plymouth Barracuda - $74,000
In five months, the next thrilling event on the Carlisle Auction schedule is set to take place. Fall Carlisle will take place September 29-30 and is actively taking consignments as well as locking down bidders. Learn more at www.CarlisleAuctions.com.
