Joe Brienza was on the cover of HOT ROD MAGAZINE August 19, 1959
And still goin' strong!
Joe Brienza, a long time Rodder, sent in these great pics of some of his cars. The commentary is by Joe. These pics will give you a chance to appreciate Joe's work and it sure will bring back some memories ! Looking at these pictures sure takes us back in time…. This is really GREAT… Enjoy !
The following car is the Cover Car on Custom Rodder 1958 and Hot Rod 1959 August. I found the car in a horse barn in 1957. The car was filled with horse manure up to the dashboard. The farmer sold me the car for $35. I started building it in 1957. The before pictures show a beat up one car shed in the background. It was built there under horrible conditions.
I was at a car show looking at a beautiful '32 Best in Show Roadster when the owner told me not to touch his car. I was no way near it. I was just admiring it. But he had a nasty attitude. So I told the owner, "I'll be back in 2 years with a car to beat you." He just laughed. I WAS back in 2 years and I beat him every time.
The Car was a '34 Ford Cabriolet. I sectioned it, channeled it and chopped it. It had a Lincoln rear, a Lincoln tranny, a 4x4 Caddy engine, Jans pistons, Isky cam, 1:1 compression. The engine was all chrome except the block. It took 28 trophies in just 7 Shows. All First and Best in Show! It was in many magazines. In those days, it was top show car on the East Coast
