Hey Gang
On Sunday, September 28, 2003, we were fortunate to attend the 6th Annual Natural Bridge Car Show in Slade, KY.  Presented by the Groundpounders Car Club.  Slade is home of one of Kentucky's more famous attractions  -  The Natural Bridge State Park.  The Bridge is just what it says, a natural bridge formation of rock, and it's worth seeing, as well as another nearby attraction, Red River Gorge.  We really enjoy riding our motorcycles through these areas, simply beautiful and equally beautiful were all the cars.  Everyone had a great time and the rain held off until Awards time.  One of the most outstanding cars there belonged to Enoch Thomas.  It was outstanding enough to receive the coveted Minnie's Pick Award and deservingly so.  Back in the '70's I had a friend by the name of Gaylord Thomas, we called him Gayler, big guy, stood about 6'3" or 4" weighed about 300 lbs, and you didn't make fun of his name if you get my drift.  A super great guy, anyway, he sold his model A and bought the '34 Sedan and we went to many shows together, I guess Enoch was about 14 then, but everywhere Gayler went so did Enoch.  Gayler succumbed to illness and passed on and of course I lost track of little Enoch.  Now can you imagine how I felt, when some 20 years later this big guy comes up to me and asks "Hey, you remember me?", and takes me to look at this car  -  and wa-la there sits Gayler's old '34 Sedan just as I remembered it from years ago, it was an exceptional car then as well as now.  Enoch says he keeps it maintained but doesn't want to change it from the way his dad had it.  Now I'm a pretty big guy, and manly myself, but I could feel the tears welling up and had to fight them back.  Imagine passing away and leaving your rod to your son who isn't even old enough to get licensed to drive, and 30 years later your son is still going to shows in your old rod, exactly like it was when you left.  Tell me old Gayler wouldn't be proud of his son, I know he is.  Anyway, enough of my rambling and reminiscing, let's look at some show pics while I dry my eyes.  To YOU Gayler, we still miss you!  Jack!
