Hey Gang,
On August 27-29, 2004 the Evilirons Club held their 30th Annual Frog Follies Fest Show in the 4H Park in Evansville, IN., and Minnie and I were there to join in the fun and festivities. And with almost 4,200 pre-’48 cars and trucks it was a great show, as usual. Of all the shows we attend annually, this has to be one of our favorites.  It is held in a park setting with lots of trees and grass, and they don’t rip you off on food and drinks.  The Rodders attending this show are the greatest, just down to earth folk like Minnie and myself and we all have a great time visiting and admiring everyone’s cars, and believe you me there are a lot of super nice cars. The weather was great, actually a little on the hot side with temps in the high 90’s.  Saturday afternoon we nearly missed a close one as the Evansville area was hit by a severe storm.  As close as a couple of miles from the Park severe winds hit breaking utility poles across the highway, destroying a Highway Patrol Communications Tower and a McDonald’s Arches Sign, closing several motels and sending rodders looking for lodging elsewhere. Needless to say all eyes were glued to the sky but we were fortunate enough to only get a few drops of rain. I saw many old friends and met a lot of new ones.  I met some on-line rodding friends, Zinski3, Reborn55 and Nicks32Vic. Ran into Jeff and his beautiful wife Judy, of Tolle Road Customs. Jeff is an advertiser on HRHL and he had one of his creations, ‘33 Speedstar Coupe, at the show and believe me it was a work of Art, he does excellent work.  Check out Tolle Road Customs web site. And I would like to thank all my friends and fellow rodders for voting for my ‘32 for the Best Coupe, thank you all. Minnie was kept quite busy all weekend taking pics and trying to decide who should receive the coveted Minnie’s Pick Award. She finally decided on one Slick ‘40 Ford Coupe belonging to Ernie and Bea Roberts from Jackson, KY.  Nice car and even nicer people. Needless to say we had a great time and are even happier to be back home.  We will be in Pigeon Forge, TN., for the Shades of the Past Show on Sept 10-11, so make plans to stop by and chat for a while, we would love to see you.  Until then! Jack!!!
