Howdy All
Weve been talking about this show since last year.  The 2nd Annual NHRA Hot Rod Reunion at Beech Bend Park in beautiful Bowling Green, Kentucky was even better than the first. One word best describes the weekend...... HOT! Actually you could put a bunch of words in front of that and describe it, but they would all be bad words.  We wont go there.  We had to run for shade several times on Friday and drink plenty of b........ you thought I was going to say beer didnt you...... beverages. The Friday night meet and greet was huge.  They even fired a couple of nitro cars up.  What a rush that is!  We missed the HAMB get together before hand due to the crowd at the restaurants but got to meet up with a few members on Saturday. Im a newbie to the HAMB but those guys welcomed me like an old friend.  Saturday was hot but not as miserable.  The turn out was massive. Saturday night we finally got to witness the world famous Cacklefest, 22 old dragsters were push started and idled down the track to the delight of the fans. Once the last of the cars were started, the track lights were turned off.  For several minutes only the flames from the headers and hundreds of camera flashes lit the sky. When the last car finally shut down, the roar of the crowd was deafening.  This was truly the highlight of the weekend.  We hated to see Sunday come and the festivities come to a close but were grateful the weather stayed dry all 3-days. With about 1,500 hot rods in attendance this has been a major success.  Were ready to go back right now!
I would like to thank the NHRA and all staff responsible for the Hot Rod Reunion weekend from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for bringing such a high quality event to our small portion of the world and THANK YOU for having it within driving distance from my house.... :-) !!!! Now, on with the show!!! Butch!!!
