Bowling Green: June 17-19, 2005- The third-edition of NHRA's Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green, KY, was its best so far. Centered around Beech Bend Raceway Park on the northeast corner of town, it featured lots of drag-racing action, including loud, smokiferous burnouts by top fuel slingshots and and pre-1972 modified cars

Cars up thru 1971 were eligible to participate, but early rods predominated. San Diegan Jerry Baltes (in chair) brought his newly restored Croshier-Baltes-Lavato top fueler for the Cacklefest, and put on a one-car version after the awards presentations that cleared the area of diletantes. Baltes was known for his smokey wheelstanding starts.
