On Wednesday, the 15th of June I headed out in "Hot Stuff", my trusty 32 Ford Roadster. Mapquest said the fastest way was mostly Interstate. Jonesboro to Memphis and on to Nashville and up to Bowling Green. For me the ride is part of the fun and Interstate driving is boring. So I hooked up through Kennett Missouri and Union City Tennessee. 27 miles into Kentucky I got off the parkway and cut due East across the "Land Between the Lakes" and on in to Bowing Green. I'd like to say the trip over was without incident. But, when I was gassing up in Union City I found oil on both frame rails. The front oil seal in the timing chain cover was leaking big time. I went to Auto Zone and bought some oil. Every 50 or 60 miles I stopped and added a quart. And Wednesday afternoon I limped into my motel. Thursday morning I went to Scotty's Auto Parts in Bowling Green. Scotty had the seal I needed. When I told him I hoped I could hook up with someone at the event with the right tools he directed me as follows: "Turn right and go down to the place that sells lawn mowers in the turn. Go to the shop in the back and ask for Mike". Mike turned out to be Mike Young, the proprietor of M&L Automotive Specialties, a performance oriented shop. In less than a hour the seal was in and I was on the road again Thanks Scotty. Thanks Mike.

The reunion was held in Beech Bend Park, a facility with an old time covered stands drag strip, an amusement park, campground and RV park, and lots of room for the Show and Shine folks to park and hang out.

Thursday afternoon I went out and drove around the facility. The campground was filling up and there were a lot of really neat rods parked next to RVs, campers, and tents. The event had not started and the campground was one of the best car shows I had ever attended. I knew this was going to be good!
